                   Vacation Bible School 2004

                                              Kostov Mission

 

 

 

 

          

    July 5-9th in Belogradchik, Bulgaria             July 12-16th in Novoselo, Bulgaria

 

The Father's Heart held two Vacation Bible Schools for the abandoned and orphaned youth living in State Residential Institutions in two small towns in Bulgaria. In the S.R.I.  "Hope", in Belogradchik, 21 youth (ages 7-19) participated and in the S.R.I. "Hristo Botev", in Novoselo, 17 youth (ages 7-22) joined the daily activities. (It is important to note that in Belogradchik 24 youth are living in the home for the summer - only 3 chose not to participate; in Novoselo 16 youth are currently living in the home - only 1 chose not to participate, however 2 "graduates" (ages 20 and 22) living outside of the home joined the VBS.)

The theme of this year's VBS was the "Parables of Jesus" and included (1) the parable of the talents (Luke 19:11-27); (2) the parable of the foolish farmer (Luke 12: 13-21); (3) the parable of the friend at midnight (Luke 11:5-10); (4) the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32); and (5) the parable of the sower (Luke 8:4-8). The 5-day program included centers in Bible study, arts n' crafts, sports, snacks, and music. The parables became "real and relevant" for the youth through the center activities and through the week-long fellowship and conversations our 8 volunteers had with the kids.

   Music time: Singing to the Lord outdoors using tambourine, bongo, and shakers.

We thank the Lord for His faithfulness to us in providing financially and spiritually so that we could reach the youth of Belogradchik and Novoselo with the love of our Lord Jesus Christ one more time!
