I long to see you so that
I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—that is that
you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. (Romans 1:11-12)
Religious Liberty – March 25-26. We held the
Round Table and are about to publish the 3rd issue of our Freedom
for All online magazine on religious liberty. The discussions were lively
and the participants…We’ve received some encouraging feed back from people
interested in the subject of freedom of religion in Bulgaria. Our next step -
to translate the web site into English.
Spring VBS.
April 1-8 the ministry group of teens and their leaders from Wales, UK, joined
us in ministry in the two orphan homes in Belogradchik and Novo Selo. We had
arts and crafts, games, Bible studies and fun with the youth in both orphan
homes. Many of the teens who were on the Welsh team joined this project for the
second year. The love of God they shared in their teen-like way was touching
both to their counterparts in the orphan homes and to the adults. You can look
at some photos here.
The first evening in Vidin
we held a concert in a local bar. I was the producer and speaker. I wanted to
sing, too, but people were relieved to hear that I had changed my mind. Yavor
and two members of his house church opened with several of their songs in
Bulgarian. Ann, her son Rory, and Ben, of the Welsh group, played Christian
worship music after them.
In the meantime, alcoholic
drinks were being served to the visitors of the bar. But this did not hinder
the work of the Lord. The Spirit of God was present and many thirsty souls were
touched by a reality which they did not know existed. I had some people come to
me and ask me to have “this band” record an album. One young lady, who
said she worked PR for a radio-station, had contacts in other towns and asked
if we’re “doing this around the country” and if the band would be willing to
visit her town for a concert. The outright praise and worship touched the
thirsty souls with a fresh wind from heaven. It was like Jesus going to the
parties of the lost ones. We also felt
that the partnership in ministry with the saints from Wales went to a
deeper level.
Trip to Romania.
Yavor and myself picked up Stuart from Bucharest airport and then spent a week
with the saints in the church in Iasi (pronounced “Yash”), North Eastern
Romania. It was a long drive – our team arrived 5am on the day after we met in
Bucharest. We had a week of meetings and fellowship with the saints in the
church in Iasi. We wanted to see a prophetic impartation of hope and purpose
from the Holy Spirit come to these believers. Many of them are young people and
young married couples. We had meetings for worship, fellowship, and teaching.
We saw how Jesus brought a new level of excitement in both Romanian, Welsh and
Bulgarian believers about the truth of the Gospel and about the work of
ministry in hard times for the church. Another theme of the teaching was “acceleration.”
God was showing that what took place in the church for 11 years will be taking
place in much shorter strides. It was Stuart’s 11th anniversary of
visiting and working with this church. We were glad to be part of the ministry
there. Yavor sang several songs in Romanian and broke yet again 2 guitar
strings under the anointing of the Spirit. That’s hard worship! See photos here.
Teresa is
due to deliver any day now. She’s
been feeling pain in her side but not due to delivery pains. The doctor says
it’s the position of the baby. Please, pray for peace and relief from pain for
her. It will be hard to labor along with an additional pain that wears her
down.
Pray for
the preparation of our VBS at the
end of June and beginning of July. Most likely we won’t be able to do a 3rd
VBS in Sigmen, the new place the team started visiting. The team will be
international this year. Three Christian women are coming from the Welsh church
to join us for one week of VBS. We have invited 3 Romanian believers to come
and be part of the work for a week, as well. Please, pray that God provides the
finances and the strength and wisdom to get everything ready and conduct
Vacation Bible Schools that will yet one more time touch the lives of the
youth.
Pray for
the Welsh youth, too. They were
quite touched by the Lord this last spring visit. They are raising funds so we
can buy property – a house in Novo Selo – to turn it into a mission center for
work with the kids from the orphanage and for Christian work.
It would be great to have
some funds to keep the Freedom for All online magazine going for one
more year and to translate it into English. We got vision but need money. Lord,
hear our friends’ prayers!
Danny and Matty are doing
well, joining our work and praying regularly for the welfare of the orphans.
They await their new brother. Thank you again for your support and prayers.
