The righteous cry out, and
the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. Ps. 34:17
Our trip to the US, Dec 2004 – Jan 2005, was a time of refreshing –
thanks for all your support and fellowship. We did have a time of rest and
encouragement! We felt blessed by God through your care for us in the spiritual
and material sense. We got back to the winter – two feet of snow - and hit the
ground running as we came back after the long flight from Los Angeles.
Prophetic conference – Varna and Silistra Feb. 21-27. The team – Stuart,
Yavor and Viktor, traveled to these towns in the NE part of Bulgaria. We held a
service in Silistra church on the 21st of Feb. then went to Varna
where we had several services. Then we were back to Silistra for the weekend.
The teaching was on the need for true heart revelation of Christ in order to
follow Him with all we have; the difference between true and false prophets;
and the new wineskins of the church of Christ in these last times. It was a
busy but blessed time of ministry and fellowship among our team and with the
believers in Varna and Silistra. We got several invitations to minister in the
future in churches in Varna as well.
Visiting churches in
Dobrich – March 12-13. Dobrich is a midsize, typical Bulgarian town
between Silistra and Varna. We visited and connected with the Gospel work
there. The lady which heads up the work, generously sponsored by American
churches and missionaries, turned out to be a former client of mine on
religious liberty issues, of over ten years ago. Yavor led worship and I had
the privilege of sharing from the Word and ministering as the Holy Spirit was
leading. The message was one of encouragement and rebuke for not walking into
the fullness of commitment to Christ’s calling.
Youth worker training
seminars– starting this spring or
summer. The Lord had provided the sources of income we needed for starting
the project of training local youth workers to start orphan youth work in six
locations around the nation. We will be starting this training for youth
workers from six churches around the country, hoping to have the Father’s Heart
ministry get more of a national presence.
Religious Liberty – March 25-26. We are getting ready for the Round
Table and the 3rd issue of our Freedom for All online
magazine on religious liberty. We’ve received some encouraging feed back from
people interested in the subject of freedom of religion in Bulgaria. Please,
pray that we find a way to translate the web site into English if so God leads
you.
Spring VBS. April 1-8 the ministry group of teens and their
leaders from Wales, UK, will join us in ministry in the two orphan homes in
Belogradchik and Novo Selo. We’ll have arts and crafts, games, Bible studies
and fun with the youth in both orphan homes.
Spiritual Warfare. Every time we go to Silistra and visit the church
there as a team and release the Word of God in teaching, prayer and ministry,
the enemy attacks our families. For example, Mattias has been sick with a
severe diarrhea and throwing up every single time we went there! This includes
October 2003 trip when we lost our previous baby, Feb. 2004 and September 2004
and the most recent ministry trip in Feb. 2005! On our last trip, only with
Yavor to Silistra and Dobrich, Mattias
was OK but Yavor’s son was the target this time. The five year old Philip got
his eardrum badly damaged by a Q-tip accidentally punched into his ear by his
sister. He had to be taken to emergency and then taken to Sofia for a
specialist to operate on him. All this while we were hundreds of miles away and
Yavor almost quit the trip to go back to be with his family. God was gracious,
however, and we were able to finish our ministry in Silistra and Dobrich and he
joined his family in time to admit his son at the Sofia hospital.
Please, pray for
protection, for us, our team and our families, as we seek to expand the
Kingdom of God in places where the enemy has strongholds in both the church and
the surrounding establishments. A friend has suggested that we fast before a
trip. So we did, both Yavor and I before this last trip. And still there was
this accident with my nephew’s eardrum! Yet we feel encouraged because these
hardships we believe are not because God doesn’t like what we are doing but
they are rather an opposition from the enemy!
Teresa’s pregnancy is going well. Please, continue to pray, as her last
months are just ahead – she’ll be giving birth in the end of May. Dan and Matt
miss their American friends but are back to homeschooling and struggling with
their Bulgarian!
